Sudan Deports 400 Nigerians
No fewer than 400 illegal Nigerian immigrants, who were deported by the Sudanese Government, have arrived through the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).
The immigrants, who arrived the airport at the weekend, aboard a Sudanese Airlines jet, were not only looking haggard but tired.
One of the deportees, who spoke with the Nigerian Compass on the condition of anonymity, said that the Sudanese authorities raided their homes at an unholy hour of the night, during which they were individually arrested and detained for 50 days, before their eventual deportation.
He said that while the detention lasted, they were all subjected to sub-human conditions and fed only once daily, adding that they went through excruciating pains for the mere reason that they were residing in the country, without resident permit.
