Leaving Nigeria will not work well for Igbos says Ben Nnabuihe

Mr. Ben Nnabuihe, an Igbo man who is also a U.S.-based businessman has called on Igbo people to forget the idea of leaving Nigeria, saying that it will be a counterproductive task for them.

Mr Nnabuihe gave this advice during the official handover of a 500 KVA transformer to the Umuduru Ezimba Ogbaeruru autonomous community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, NAN reports.

He said: “What the Igbos need at the moment is to be very relevant and to occupy sensitive positions in the present administration.

“When we are well-positioned, it will give the Igbos very strong bargaining power in future politics of the country,” he said.

He believes that the the greatest challenge facing the Igbo race is self-centeredness and lack of unity of purpose.

“We have very influential and reputable leaders, but they have never pursued a common goal and this factor will continue to fight against the progress of the south easterners.”

Going further, he decries the fact that many young Igbo people had lost their lives in the process of agitating for Biafra.

He said: “We have continued to lose our youths in the name of freedom and this will not end until we come together to agree on the right approach to solving our problems.”

Going further, he argued that: “We have the manpower and the resources to produce the next president, but that will only be possible if we are united,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu a former Abia state governor had recently called on his political associates to abandon their respective political affiliations and join the All Progressives Congress Party (APC).

Kalu also posited that under the ruling party, an Igbo man stands a chance of becoming the president of Nigeria.
