The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy to partly cloudy conditions over the central states of the country on Thursday morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Jalingo and Mambilla plateau.
NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office on Wednesday in Abuja predicted day and night temperatures of 27 to 35 and 16 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively over the region.
It added that there would be chances of isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Minna, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola, Jalingo, Mambilla Plateau, Ibi, Makurdi, Lafia and Lokoja during the afternoon and evening hours.
The agency predicted that southern states would be cloudy in the morning, with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Ikeja, Ijebu-ode, Warri and Yenagoa.
It also predicted isolated thunderstorms over the region during the afternoon and evening hours, with day and night temperatures of 30 to 33 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloudy conditions with isolated thunderstorms over Sokoto and Kebbi during the morning and cloudiness over Maiduguri, Damaturu and Nguru later in the day.
“There is prospect of isolated thunderstorms over Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Zaria, Gusau, Kebbi and Yelwa, with day and night temperature of 34 to 42 and 22 to 28 degrees Celsius.
“There is influx of moist winds up to Niger Republic; therefore isolated thunderstorms are expected over some parts of the Northwest, Central cities and over some cities in the Southern part,’’ NiMet noted.
