Ibadan school shooting: Police, IAR&T‎ Director, trade words

The Executive Director, Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Moor Plantation, Apata Ibadan, Professor James Adediran is currently trading words with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Odude over who is responsible for the Monday’s shooting of two staff of the institute.

IAR&T Executive Director, Professor James Adediran while addressing journalists insisted that the two staff of the institute were shot by the policemen drafted to quell the students’ protest at the college.

He said “In the process of shooting, two personnel of IAR&T who have nothing to do with the students or the college were shot with live bullets,’’ he said.

But Odude in his reaction said his men were not responsible for shooting of the two staff of the institute.

He, however, said that the students blocked the Ibadan-Abeokuta Road during the protest, attacked vehicles and threw stones at the police.

Odude said that four policemen were wounded as a result of the stones thrown at them by the students.

He said “Police fired teargas to push the students to the extreme and were able to arrest some of the students that threw the stones.

“There was no gun shot”.
