Mrs. Omene was released at about 4pm, five hours after it was gathered she cried out from the kidnappers’ den, asking that she should be allowed to have a bath.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer,  Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the victim’s release, said: “Mama Omene was released as Police closed in on the kidnappers. No ransom was paid.”

She had spoken with one of her sons, a former chairman of Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Chief Wilson Omene, at about 11am, when the kidnappers,  who, two days ago, reduced their N150 million ransom demand  to N32 million,   called  the family,  earlier on Sunday,  to know what it was willing to part with for her freedom.
