LAGOS—The State Security Service, SSS, yesterday, paraded six members of a syndicate that specialized in processing fake vehicle licences and restricted government documents.
The Lagos State Director of SSS, Achu Olayi, who paraded the suspects before newsmen at its Shangisha, Lagos office, said the suspects were arrested when SSS operatives got an intelligence report on their activities.
He said: “A raid was carried out at the syndicate’s hideout at 18, Herbert Macaulay Street, Ebute-Meta, Lagos. Six persons including a woman were arrested. Several fake government restricted documents, vehicle licences and registration numbers were confiscated.”
He assured that SSS would not limit its investigation on this syndicate alone, but would extend its dragnet into vehicle licencing office to clampdown on all collaborators.
Olayi also urged members of the public to desist from patronizing touts while trying to obtain vehicle licence and particulars as they might end up obtaining fake documents.
