The judge, Mr Mohammed Yahaya, handed down the sentence after Yusuf pleaded guilty to the crime and begged the court for leniency.
In his plea, the convict admitted guilt and attributed his actions to the devil.
“It was the devil that made me to do it; have mercy on me, I will not do it again,” he pleaded.
The judge did not, however, give the convict an option of fine, adding that the sentence was meant to serve as a deterrent to those who might want to engage in similar acts.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. U. Edwin, told the court that the accused committed the act on April 20.
Edwin said that the accused lured the girl into his room and forcefully had canal knowledge of her and threatened to kill her, if she ever mentioned it to anyone.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 283 and 285 of the Penal Code.
