A group of armed men stormed Kolo police station in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state around 8:00am Tuesday, killing one officer and injuring three others.
According to a report by Channels TV, a witness claimed that the attack was perpetrated by oil thieves.
The incident is coming barely a week after four military men and one civilian were murdered along the waterways of Letugbene, Ekeremor local government area of the state.
Recall that we earlier reported that it was reported that some gunmen believed to be militants abducted four soldiers and a boatman and dragged them to another location before shooting them dead.
Meanwhile, some Nigerian soldiers allegedly invaded Letugbene community in Ekeremor local government, Bayelsa state, burning several houses after four of their colleagues died.
The soldiers, while reacting to the death of their colleagues, descended on the community on August 29, destroying homes and arresting people.
In a statement released by a youth group in the region and signed by one Etolor Ebi Prince, the president of the Ekelga Federated Youth Council (EFYC), the soldiers attacked the community because they suspected that the community gave information that led to the attack and subsequent death of the officers.
