National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, has called on governors to surpass the achievements of their predecessors.
Tukur said this when he led the the PDP National Working Committee on a courtesy visit to Kwara State Governor Abdulfataih Ahmed in Abuja on Friday.
He said good performance of the governors was the only way the country could develop to the satisfaction of the electorate.
Tukur said, “Every father wants his child to achieve more than what he achieved and every child also aspires to be greater than the father.
“We have come to do better than the previous team. We expect every governor to do better than his predecessor as that is how the country will improve and grow.”
He praised Ahmed for focusing on agriculture.
The governor said, “There is no substitute for experience.
“We are happy to identify with you. We thank God for making you the chairman of the party.
“We are happy we are part of the PDP. The PDP has done very well in the last years given the fact that it is a party hurriedly put together.
“From 1999 till date, the PDP has done well given where the country is coming from. Against all odds, we are moving forward.”
On the security challenges facing the country, Ahmed said it was not peculiar to Nigeria.
He also said the state government was partnering all security agencies to check crime in the state.
