Register with TRCN or lose promotion, Kaduna SUBEB advises teachers
The Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board on Monday said teachers yet to register with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria would not be promoted.
The Director of Social Mobilisation of the board, Malam Shu’aibu Dabo, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.
He added that teachers who have not obtained the minimum teaching requirement of the National Certificate in Education would also not be considered for promotion.
Dabo said over 17,000 teaching and non-teaching staff were eligible for promotion this year across the 23 local education authorities of the state.
NAN recalls that the state government had in August directed teachers without the minimum teaching requirement to obtain the certificate within five years or lose their jobs.
The director said the promotion examination for 2010/2011 would involve staff on grade levels 7 to 13, while those on level 14 and above would be considered later.
He said the board had appointed supervisors to ensure that the exercise is successful in the three senatorial districts.
Dabo said the supervisors include the board’s Permanent Members, Abubakar Umar and Ibrahim Ali, as well as the Permanent Secretary, Ibrahim Sambo.
The director said the promotion interview, which had started, would end on December 10, to allow affected teachers to participate without disrupting school activities.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government towards transforming the education sector for meaningful development.
