Village Head plans to sanction parents over refusal to send wards to school
The village head of Hayin-Gada in Goska District of Nikyop Chiefdom, Mr. Dauda Danbaki, says he will sanction parents who refuse to send their wards to school.
Danbaki made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Gidan-Biyu, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday.
He identified education as the bedrock of development of any society and enjoined parents and guardians to play the role of stakeholders in ensuring the education of their wards.
Danbaki noted that the government was working hard to ensure that public schools were brought closer to rural communities to encourage education.
He, however, said poverty in any part of the world was responsible to under-development, adding, “With education comes enlightenment and development.
“Parents and guardians must join in the effort toward revamping the education sector of our nation.
“As such, the community would not relent to punish anyone who ignores the responsibility of sending his/her wards to school,” he said.
The community leader further expressed satisfaction over government’s efforts to ensure security of lives and property, saying the area had enjoyed peaceful coexistence.
He urged politicians to aspire for positions with sincere intentions of transforming their communities and not for self aggrandisement.
Danbaki also advised the youth to play active role in ensuring a hitch-free local government elections in December.
He said security agents should collaborate with members of the public as well as recognised vigilance groups in the area of security.
The community leader, however, urged the government to assist in the provision of social amenities such as road, electricity and health centres, to boost commercial activities in the area.
