- He blames Goodluck Jonathan for doing nothing for the region during his time as president
Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has again disclosed that former president Goodluck Jonathan admitted he failed the people of Niger Delta after six years in power.
This comes even as the former governor of Rivers state believes dialogue with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will be the best way to address the unfairness dished out to the region over the years.
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Amaechi wondered why ex-president Jonathan did nothing for Niger Delta in his two years as vice president and six years as president.

He said: “We had two years of vice presidency and six years of presidency. In the six years of presidency, the people of Niger Delta let you do what you can do to change the place but it didn’t happen.
“He (Jonathan) came to Port Harcourt and admitted that I have not done anything in the Niger Delta but when I win the second term, I will do something. So who do you blame, President Buhari who came when there was no money or our son and leader who came when there was money and did nothing?”[embedded content]
Amaechi added: “So what are the Avengers avenging? I need to sit with them so that they can tell me what they are avenging. Is it that they are avenging that our leader and son could not do east-west road that was started by Obasanjo?
“The only time he could borrow money to start doing it was when I had a confrontation with the federal government. So tell me what are they avenging because I am from Niger Delta and I need to know so that I can tell the president when we meet. I have a responsibility to fight for the Niger Delta people because that is where I am from.
“I think Avengers and everybody need to come together and asked ourselves, what is the problem? Nigeria has not been fair to Niger Delta but we had our opportunity to change the face of Niger Delta which we did not take.”
NAIJ.com had reported that Amaechi while as governor, revealed to Nigerians how and where ex-president Goodluck Jonathan admitted he failed.
