The zone 2 command of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested Orabe Philips Leo, the suspect that attempted to kill his American visitor, Mr Robert Rob Wheelers, on August 25, 2017.
The video of the attack had gone viral recently with many linking the act to the Badoo cult group since the mode of attack was similar.
But Philips, who picked his victim at the airport, once worked with the American at the Tony Elumelu Foundation in 2015, according to Dolapo Badmos, the zone’s public relations officer.

“The suspect drove the victim to his house at Adeniyi street ikorodu where he was to reside till his return back to US.
“The victim was attacked by his host at midnight and was left in his pool of blood after which the suspect fled.
“The zonal command received the distress call and its operatives were dispatched to launch a manhunt for the suspect while the victim was rushed to the hospital,” Badmos said in a statement obtained by NAIJ.com.
Philips was arrested in his hideout in Ikorodu on September 8 and was interrogated by the AIG in charge of Zone 2, Ibrahim Adamu.
He allegedly confessed to having clubbed the victim's head with a pestle three times.
His reason was that the victim reneged on his promise to give him an unspecified amount of money.
He said he had made much effort to get money from the white man and consulted a white garment church where he was given a charm to use on his victim so he would give him his money.

NAIJ.com reported that when the incident was first reported, the police under then commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, denied that any American expatriate was attacked in Ikorodu.
According to the police chief, no such incident of an ‘American expatriate’, either kidnapped or attacked, in Ikorodu had been recorded by the state police command, even after the command had conducted a wide search.
He advised the public to be careful about what they post on social media.
