National Hospital, Abuja was established on September 1, 1999. It was founded by Mrs. Maryam Abacha and was initially named the National Hospital for Women and Children.
The hospital was established with the sole intent to cater for the needs of women and children because of the high rate of morbidity and mortality and to also carry out in-depth research to ascertain the causes of these women and children related diseases.
The hospital commenced operations after necessary recruitment had been made home and abroad.

However, in order to ensure that the almost anyone could benefit from the services provided by the hospital and its modern equipment, the hospital extended its services to accommodate male patients and that was how National Hospital, Abuja came into existence from May 10, 2000.

The hospital which is located at plot 132 Airport road, Central District, AMAC local government area, Abuja is endowed with the state of the art ultramodern equipment which happens to be one of the best in in the West African sub-region.
The hospital caters to all persons, embassy officials, corporate organization, ministry staff and the general public.
There is no such thing as “too many hands” when it comes to saving lives and thus the hospital occasionally puts out ads for recruitment. Their most recent job ad was done in January 2017.
