2019: Ex-minister reveals why PDP would return to power

- Prof. Tunde Adeniran, a candidate for the PDP national chairmanship, has predicted that the party would be voted back into power at the 2019 general elections

- The former minister stated that this would be possible because the party will rid itself of impunity and imposition of candidates during elections

- He stated that the PDP will take-over from the ruling APC party, and demonstrate what it means to give power to the people

Prof. Tunde Adeniran, former Education Minister, has stated that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will purge itself of impunity and imposition of candidates at elections; hence, it would return to power in 2019, The Nation reports.

Adeniran vowed that if given the mandate to lead the party, he would lead it to victory at the next general elections.

The former minister made his comments while receiving a PDP support group delegation in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

NAIJ.com gathers that Adeniran is vying to become the party’s next national chairman; alongside Chief Olabode George, PDP ex- Deputy National Chairman (south-west); and Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, another ex-Minister.

He stated: “If elected as National Chairman, I will deliver the Presidency to the PDP in 2019. We are not gunning for the office for the fun of it or because we want to be Chairman of the largest party, the PDP.

“The purpose is that by the grace of God and with you, we will put an end to impunity and imposition in the party.

"We know what Nigeria has been going through. The PDP will take-over and we will demonstrate what it means to give power to the people.

“Kindly go back and let’s reach every nook and cranny of this country, keep a checklist of those who are yet to be reached. We want to bring everybody on board and we trust you can do that.”
