Empowerment: 500 Udu youths graduate from Sharta Foundation

Over 500 youths in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have graduated from the one month empowerment programme organized by Hon. Benjamin Sharta, councillor representing Ovwian Ward 11 in Udu Legislative Arm in collaboration with Chief Amos Itihwe Foundation.

The graduation ceremony which took place at the Ovwian Town Hall had the representative of the Ovie of Udu Kingdom, Chief Steve Sokoh, President General of UUC, representative of APC state leadership, among other dignitaries in attendance.

The training which began in early August at Ovwian Community Town Hall, ended with over 500 youths successfully graduating from different skills which including; catering, shoe making, recharge card printing, soap making, hair-style and make-up, decoration and confectionery, fishery and poultry among others.

In a chat with some of the graduating students, Mrs Theresa Odiete, Francis Akpokona, described Hon. Benjamin Sharta as a councillor  who believes in the amelioration of the sufferings of his people. Other beneficiaries include; Ukiri David, Muwhen Donald, Mrs Edith Orukpe, Mrs Beauty Osimini, Friday Aghogho and many others.

Also Speaking, Hon. Benjamin Sharta who bagged another merit award of Excellence as the Outstanding and Best Councillor in Delta State presented by Cross Road Foundation Abuja, thanked God for a successful programme, saying that with the graduation of successful skilled students in Udu Local government Area, youth restiveness will drastically reduce and the people will now feel a sense of belonging in the society, adding that the empowerment programme has also created new entrepreneurs which will provide better living for the people of Udu despite the dwindling economy bedeviling our country.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of Award certificates of achievement to participants at the empowerment programme by the Commissioner representing Udu, Ughelli and Uvwie in the Board of DESOPADEC, Chief Amos Itihwe.
