- The Arewa Initiative for Peaceful Coexistence in Southern Nigeria has bashed 5 northern governors, following their recent visit to Rivers state, after the clash between IPOB and northerners in the state
- The group lamented over the fact that the governors had not paid a visit to the Hausa community affected during the clash, and bashed the governors for not valuing the northerners residing in the south
- The group further urged all Nigerians to live in peace and harmony and counseled against reprisal attacks
The 5 northern governors who paid a visit to Nyesom Wike, Rivers state Governor, after the clash between members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Hausa community in the state, have been condemned by the Arewa Initiative for Peaceful Coexistence in Southern Nigeria (AIPCSN), Vanguard reports.
Alhaji Musa Saidu, the group’s national coordinator, bashed the governors for failing to meet with the affected northerners, or even visit the site of the incident.

NAIJ.com gathers that Saidu stated that the actions of the northern governors only showed that the leaders had no value for the northerners residing in the southern part of the country.
He stated: “Now, we know that five of our own governors came to the state, stayed and left without a message for us. We had expected the governors to visit us and know how we are feeling.
“We had expected them to come and commiserate with the Hausa community in Rivers state.
“They did not visit us, they did not visit the scene where the incident happened in Rivers state. Their action was not good.”
Saidu further urged all Nigerians to live together peacefully, as he stressed that religion should not be brought into the mix.
In his words: “Nigerians should learn to live together as brothers and sisters. We need peace and we want peace in all parts of the country. We want to live in peace.
“Even if you kill the man selling groundnut, or the shoemaker (cobbler) in the street, what is your gain? My plea is, let us live together.
“We don’t want reprisal from any quarters.
“Please, we should not bring religion into it, because if we do that, it would have more adverse effects on everybody in the country.
"Let us appreciate our peaceful coexistence and live in harmony.”
