In furtherance of this administration’s ease of doing business initiative, the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) hold an expanded meeting on Tuesday at the conference centre of the Presidential Villa.
A release by Dr Jumoke Oduwole, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Industry, Trade and Investment, noted that Senate President Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, would attend the event.
She said that the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Walter Onnoghen, Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos and Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, would also be in attendance.
Heads of relevant reform agencies such as the Acting Director-General of the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control have also been invited to the session based on stakeholder feedback.
According to Oduwole, the meeting’s agenda will focus on the presentation and approval of specific reforms to be implemented over a 60-day period in the National Action Plan 2.0.
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) was inaugurated in 2016 by President Muhamadu Buhari with Vice President Yemi Osibanjo as the chairman.
The council comprises 10 Ministers, with the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Okey Enelamah, as Vice Chair.
Other members are the Head of Service, the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, representatives of the National Assembly, Lagos and Kano States, and the Private Sector.
Recently, the Enabling Business Environment Secretariat (EBES) of the PEBEC released the 2016/2017 Reform Update document at the 5th Presidential Quarterly Business Forum held in Abuja on September 11.
In the document, the role of regulators as business facilitators was highlighted.
This event was chaired by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, while in attendance were ministers and heads of agencies as well as leading companies in the private sector
