lagos—Apparently concerned by poor power supply in Lagos State, the government has donated 120 generators to Police Command, aimed at boosting policemen’s performance in the state.
The State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, while handling over the equipments to the police Commissioner, Imohimi Edgar, at the State House, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, yesterday, warned the law enforcement officers to strictly adhere to the need they were purchased for.
Ambode, who was represented by Chairman, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Oye Hassan-Odukale, said that the equipment cannot laundry functions.
He noted that the Generators were purchased strictly to assist the policemen to charge their gadgets and ensure the stations are lit at night.
Executive Secretary, LSSTF, Rasaq Balogun, disclosed that the equipments would serve the 107 police divisions and 13 Area Commands in the state.
He said: “This is in furtherance of the Lagos State government’s Light Up Project, which is aimed at ensuring that every nook and cranny of the state are well lit.
“It is also in tandem with the state governor’s vision for secure and investment friendly Lagos. Police formations are critical to secure lives and property in the state. And it is crucial that they function 24 hours. This is why LSSTF funded the project.
Responding, Edgar, assured Ambode that the policemen will ensure that the facility serve the purpose it was purchased for.
