- The race for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) new national officers is gathering momentum
- One man whose aspiration is generating excitement within the party is Chief Sunny Odey
- Odey's aspiration has been endorsed by a powerful youth group within the party
An aspirant for the position of national legal adviser in the PDP, Chief Sunny Odey has been endorsed by a youth group under the auspices of Partnership Advocacy for Sustainable Systems (PASS).
National coordinator of PASS, Comrade Solomon Ogar, stated that the group's support for Chief Odey was borne out of their believe that he has all it takes to galvanise the party structure and reposition it for greater performance and service to the people.
According to Ogar, he (Odey) has 31 years of active forensic legal and political experience, which he has demonstrated in defending the party in over 300 cases at different courts across the nation.

His words: “Odey is a grassroots political mobiliser with a towering political identity who has handled several electoral matters relating to the PDP in most tribunals from local, state and federal; hence acquainted with huge cognate experience to deliver on the job and a social crusader who firmly believes in the peace and unity of Nigeria.
“He has served in the party’s congress and screening committee, and also he is well positioned to serve the PDP and the country. He has contributed to the party by adding value to reconciliation efforts and mobilisation towards regaining the party’s lost mandate.
“He is a man of impeccable character who has been a loyal party man and has been with the party through thick and thin, by weathering through the storm to where it is because he believes in the unity and peace of the party, therefore has been on the vanguard of a renewed vision and mission of the party.”
Ogar expressed optimism that with the zoning of the national legal adviser’s position to the South-south zone, the chances of Odey remains bright.
“The desire of Odey for this top job of the party is not born out of pecuniary reason, but a call to serve, as his legal practice and life style indicate that he is a contented generous man, who wants others to succeed with him as he climbs the success ladder of life”, he stated.
Meanwhile, the director-general of Professor Tunde Adeniran Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, has urged PDP faithfuls across the country to reward loyal party members with key positions in its forthcoming convention in December.
Gabam made the call during an interaction with journalists on Monday, October 9, at the campaign office of Professor Tunde Adeniran.
Professor Adeniran, a former minister of education, is one of the key contenders of the PDP chairmanship race.
Gabam, a former chief of staff to the Bauchi state government, stated that Adeniran’s candidature is a departure from the past where people with questionable characters are elected to lead the party.
