Pandemonium in Bayelsa as Governor Timipre Sylva slaps Female Guest
The celebrations at Government House Yenogoa last weekend over the victory of the PDP at the just concluded elections ended abruptly as it developed into a brawl between the Governor, his security details, on one hand, and a female guest on the other.
A source at the party said trouble started when Governor Timipre Sylva, who was apparently inebriated, tried to manhandle a female guest who was at the party. The lady, whose identity could not be ascertained at press time, and Sylva, were having a conversation, when the lady raised her voice, which infuriated Sylva.
Pointblanknews source hinted that the party which held on Saturday promised to be one of its kind, with endless supply of the finest Champagne, cognac and all the best liquor money could buy before hell broke loose.
According to our source “ We were all looking forward to having a swell time. The guests made up of top government officials, politicians and the governors foot soldiers, were outnumbered at least three to one by daughters of eve who were clad in jaw-dropping attires, some leaving nothing to the imagination, and with a lot of alcohol trouble began to brew”
It was further gathered that as the liquor flowed and conversations became more relaxed, with a few guests some guys making after party arrangements with some female guests, all hell was suddenly broke loose when Governor Timipre Sylva started exchanging hot words with a female guest who, screaming at the top of her voice, rained profanities and abuses on him.
Recounted the source “The reaction of the lady apparently infuriated his Excellency. And before we knew it, he slapped her so hard that she staggered. Before she could recover his security details had pounced on her continuing from where the Governor had stopped. We all stood shell-shocked as we watched this drama unfold. The lady who also appeared a bit tipsy, continued to yell, knocking down bottles and glasses.”
Pointblanknews also learnt sequel to the drama, the party came to an end and the woman eventually subdued by the security details who dragged her away for further ‘interrogation’.
Continued our source “At this point, the governor who had obviously had enough, and looking very embarrassed in the presence of his commissioners, top aides and party men, asked all guests to leave. What led to the altercation between the governor and the lady in question still remains a mystery. While some say her ranting was alcohol induced, others are saying there is more to the drama than the principal actors are letting on. They were some kind of disagreement, but the Governor felt embarrassed by the lady’s reaction, so he slapped her, which compounded the situation”
