James Corden brought his parents along for support when he hosted his first ever Grammy Awards ceremony last Sunday.

And The Late Late Show star put them to work on the red carpet ahead of the show, testing their presenting skills for a funny chat show segment.

Lovable duo Margaret and Malcolm - who were celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on the night - rose to the challenge like complete professionals, displaying the same charisma as their famous son.

Margaret was a particular hit on the red carpet, giggling, 'I've had so many kisses today!'

Meanwhile, Malcolm displayed his saxophone skills in a behind-the-scenes segment in a bid to win over singer John Legend.

James' parents approach him, exclaiming, ' Hey, it's John Legend!, before Malcolm bravely declares, 'I'm trying to join your band!'

John belts out his hit song All Of Me while Malcolm accompanies him on the saxophone, only to interrupt the star to demand he go 'a bit slower'.

The pair are also seen chatting to DJ Skrillex, tricking him into talking about comedian James - and luckily he didn't say anything negative.

'Do you know the Late Late Show?', was Malcolm's confident opening gambit. 'Have you heard of [James]?, Margaret adds, 'Well... We're his parents!'

Skrillex jokingly enthuses: 'He's fantastic. I love him! He's so handsome, too!'

Next up, the pair turned their charms to Jason Derulo, bantering with him on the red carpet.

'We saw your Carpool Karaoke with our son!', they enthused. 'What a hoot!', the singer replied.

As James rocked up, Jason told him, 'They're so much better than you!'

The Gavin & Stacey star wrapped his parents up in hugs, saying, 'See you, I love you lots, see you on the other side'.

Later, during the live televised show, Margaret and Malcolm were in the audience at Staples Center.

But as he made to introduce them to the cameras, he stopped and exclaimed: 'Dad, what are you doing with Heidi Klum?'

His dad was sitting in an aisle seat with model Heidi Klum in a silver mini dress sitting on his lap.

Quick as a flash he responded to his famous son: 'Well, your mom and I have an understanding and I used my free pass tonight.'

Heidi also chimed in, telling Corden: 'What are you gonna say James? He’s the cutest!'

The British funnyman then looked around and exclaimed: 'Where's mum?'

It turned out Margaret also was using her own 'free pass' - sitting with musician Nick Jonas.

As Nick placed his designer Balmain jacket around her shoulders, he told Corden: 'Sorry James, your mom’s a lovely woman.'

'So where's mum?' It turned out that Corden's mother wasn't concerned about what her husband of 45 years was up to as she'd found a celebrity date of her own 'So where's mum?' It's not the first time the host of CBS's The Late Late Show has roped in his folks to help bring laughs to his hosting gigs.

They were there last June when he hosted the Tony Awards on Broadway and took part in a skit.

Earlier, while walking the red carpet at Staples Center before the telecast kicked off, the couple gushed about their boy.

'We're so proud of him,' Malcolm told pre-show red carpet reporters Kevin Frazier and Nancy O’Dell.
