The domestic worker only identified as Evelyn is alleged to have connived with her boyfriend Brian Gatsi to kill Chuck Ivey, 81, in order to take over money he received from United Kingdom.
Police deputy spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident appealing to members of the public if anyone with information leading to the location of the suspect to approach any nearest police station.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating a murder case in Greendale and the suspects are a domestic worker and her boyfriend who is on the run," said Chief Supt Nyathi.
The deceased's ex-wife Ashleigh Musonza told H-Metro that Evelyn had introduced Brian to Chuck that the two would have drinks together.
"I was shocked to learn that my ex-husband was murdered by Evelyn's boyfriend after they learnt that he was to receive his money from UK on the day in question," said Musonza.
"Chuck is reported to have left the house in a taxi to collect his money in town and the two (Evelyn and Brian) did not know that he failed to get the money by the time he came back.
"They were after his money and it was Evelyn's pay day and I feel sorry for their desire to get money through that way.
"We are at home with relatives and friends including the deceased's lawyer for a way forward," she said.
