While allegations, criticisms and outrage have been pouring out following the release of the highly controversial docu-series titled “Surviving R.Kelly,” new reports have hinted that the singer is planning to make an escape to Africa amid criminal allegations.
According to the Breakfast Club Power 105.1, the singer is planning to flee to Africa but investigators are working hard to charge him so that he can be kept in the country.
No report has however stated where exactly in Africa he plans to make his escape.
Though many refer to the unfortunate allegations as an entry point to a broader conversation (the abuse of women), R. Kelly has been getting major criticisms, especially from his industry colleagues.
More shocking is the recent backlash from his estranged daughter, Buku Abi, who in her Instagram story referred to her father as a ‘monster.’
“To the people who feel that I should be speaking up / against everything is going on right now,” she continued, “I just want you all to understand that devastated is an understatement for what I feel currently. I do apologize if my silence to all that is happening comes off as careless,” she said.
Further more, multiple award-winning pop singer, Lady Gaga has also apologized for collaborating with R. Kelly in 2013 on a duet titled “Do What U Want (With My Body.)”
In a lengthy Instagram post, Gaga said “I stand behind these women 1000 percent, believe them, and know they are suffering and in pain, and feel strongly that their voices should be heard and taken seriously.”
“I intend to remove the song off of iTunes and other streaming platforms and will not be working with him again,” she wrote on Wednesday. “I’m sorry, both for my poor judgment when I was young, and for not speaking out sooner,” she added.
In 2008, R.Kelly, 52, was tried and acquitted on allegation of child pornography.
Though more ‘victims’ have been coming forward with fresh allegations, his music is currently being pulled down from radio stations in the U.S.
The recent docu-series has however surged R.Kelly’s streaming numbers to over 116 percent, something American rapper, Future blames on the attention given to the award-winning singer in recent times.
