One player, Tottenham Hotspurs need to be wary about ahead of Saturday’s North London Derby is Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi.
The 21-year-old, Arsenal midfielder has been in phenomenal form away on international duties as he helped the three-time Africa champions draw 1-1 against Algeria before producing a Man-of-the-Match display in the 4-2 annihilation of Argentina, scoring twice.
Iwobi will not be forgotten in a hurry by La Albiceleste fans after he nutmeg Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano on the edge of the box before powering a left-foot shot into the net for his second goal – the former Liverpool midfielder left the pitch with a hamstring injury and he is likely to miss four weeks of action.
Speaking to reporters in London ahead of the North London Derby, manager Arsene Wenger advised Iwobi and teammates: “It’s always a fierce derby. As well to keeping your nerve, you must have full commitment while being lucid and calm enough to focus on the game.
“I think Tottenham are a good side but we have the quality to win this game and that’s what we want to show.”
The Gunners were hammered 4-1 by Manchester City before the international break and will look to bounce back at the Emirates in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off but will be facing a Spurs side that is currently in-form, having won four and lost just one of their last five matches.
Arsenal are currently placed sixth on the premier league log with 19 points while Tottenham sit third with 23points after 11 matches so far this season.
