Nigerians on social media have reacted to the emergence of the new queen of Ife kingdom and wife of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.
DAILY POST recalls that the monarch unveiled the new queen, Shilekunola Moronke Naomi on Thursday night on his Instagram handle.
But, reacting, some Nigerians congratulated the Ooni and his Prophetess bride, while others wondered why he picked someone from another religion.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST:
@UmehOma “The Ooni of Ife who happens to be a traditionalist, born into a Christian family and a practising Muslim religion takes a bride (Morenke Naomi) who is a Prophetess. The volume of “Power” in this marriage is enough to power a transformer.”
@thebeautytrybe “The real question is, will she be performing the duties of the gods too?
@ayodelemajor “There is something I don’t get really. This Ooni seems to be God-fearing but that notwithstanding, the position he is occupying is a highly occultic one. Well, that’s by the way.
@temmylovett “I don’t understand. How can this relate? Ancestor +prophetess (young lady as such)…I need to consult the Oracle on their behalf.”
@aka_de_black_king “For those of you blabbing here. The kings work with the prophets of the land. Prophets must not necessarily be the ones in suits with microphones making noise as portrayed in our society to continue the brainwashing job. Before now in Africa, prophets existed and they tell the kings the mind of the gods.”
@bankyxadesua “Will they be doing Morning Devotion or appease the gods??? Aunty doesn’t know what she’s getting into.”
@rashidahrushbaby “I hope she knows what she signed in for. This is trying to be an evangelist and traditionalist at the same time, why don’t you stay in your lane and avoid causing confusion to fellow “motorists “?But then, who am I to judge.”
@punpy2121 “As she’s Christian won’t she participate in attending shrine with her husband?
@Blecyn1 “His first wife is more beautiful than the last 2 put together. Tired of divorce cases. Ooni of Ife seems to be the leader of divorce gang in Nigeria.”
