Sagamu: IGP breaks silence, takes action over murder of footballer, ‘Kaka’

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has broken his silence on the alleged murder of Kazeem Tiyamiyu (Kaka) by some operatives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on the Sagamu-Abeokuta road.

DAILY POST reported that some angry youths staged a protest on Monday following the killing of Tiyamiyu (Kaka).

The protest, however, turned bloody as policemen allegedly fired and killed one, injured others during a confrontation between them and the irate youths.

Speaking on the development, Adamu in a statement made available to newsmen on the force’s official Twitter page, urged residents to remain calm even as he offered his condolences to the family of the deceased.

The Police boss immediately ordered the DIG in-charge of the FCID, DIG Anthony Ogbizi to immediately take over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Tiamiyu Kazeem in Sagamu, Ogun State.

IGP Adamu added that those responsible for the death of the Nigerian footballer would be brought to book immediately after investigation has been concluded.
