Coronavirus: Death toll in Africa hits 492 as cases rise to 10,252





The Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has said that there are now 10,252 confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in 52 countries across Africa.

The health agency stated this in a tweet on its official Twitter account on Tuesday evening.

According to the tweet, COVID-19 has killed 492 people in Africa, while a total of 989 patients have recovered from the deadly disease across the continent.

“#COVID19 – SURVEILLANCE UPDATE IN AFRICA: 7 APRIL 2020 – 5:00 pm EAT.

“52 @_AfricanUnion Member States reporting 10,252 COVID-19 cases, 492 deaths, and 989 recoveries,” it said.

DAILY POST recalls that Africa CDC had provided an update on Coronavirus on Tuesday morning.

South Africa remains the highest country in Africa with 1,749 cases and thirteen deaths, followed by Algeria 1,423 cases with 173 deaths and Egypt 1322 confirmed cases with eighty-eight deaths.

Meanwhile, Nigeria recorded 254 confirmed cases of COVID-19; 44 patients had been discharged with six deaths as at Tuesday night.
