COVID-19: Police gun down suspected armed robber as residents observe lockdown in Delta State

The Delta State Police Command has gunned down a suspected armed robber at Okuzu quarters in Obiaruku Community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was learned that the deceased suspect and members of his criminal gang had operated for hours when a Police patrol team stormed the area.
The incident occurred as many residents were home observing the stay at home order of the Government.

On sighting the Police patrol team, the criminal gang opened fire.

However, the Policemen engaged the criminals and gunned down one of the suspects as others fled the scene.

DAILY POST reports that the Police also recovered a cut to size locally-made gun, two live cartridges, three expended cartridges and two tecno mobile phones from the scene.

The police say they are making efforts to arrest other members of the gang who fled the scene.

When contacted for comments, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa confirmed the report in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri saying, “I will give you the details later.”
