COVID-19: Buhari govt releases new guidelines for religious gtherings

The Nigerian government has released some guidelines for those wishing to attend churches and mosques.

Recall that President Buhari finally lifted the ban on religious gatherings across the country.

The ban was placed on religious gatherings for two months to check the spread of Coronavirus.

However, at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 on Monday, Chairman of the task force, Boss Mustapha, announced that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the relaxation of the ban for four weeks.

And addressing the press on Tuesday, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu said those attending churches, mosques, or any other religious gatherings must wear the face masks, wash their hands and practice social distancing.

He said, “We are not recommending that people should go to places of worship, but if you have to, we are providing guidelines that will make it safe to do so.

“Some guidelines for reopening places of worship: All worshipers must sanitize their hands, wear facemasks and practice social distancing.”
