BREAKING: AfDB: Buhari, Adesina meet in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has just concluded a meeting with Akinwunmi Adesina, President of the Africa Development Bank (AFDB).

In attendance was the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari.

The Ministers of Finance, Zainab Ahmed and Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, were also present.

At the end of the parley, Adesina declined an interview with reporters.

The AfDB president faces opposition to his re-election by the United States.

The Department of Treasury had called for an independent investigation of Adesina.

But this was after he was cleared by the bank’s ethics committee.

On Sunday, President Julius Maad Bio of Sierra Leone assured the Nigerian of his support and his country’s.

Earlier, former African leaders led by Olusegun Obasanjo backed Adesina.

Before the joint declaration, the ex-President of Nigeria accused some forces of trying to “hijack AfDB from Africa”.
