President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with President Michel Aoun and the people of Lebanon over massive explosions that rocked Beirut.

His reaction was contained in a statement on Thursday by Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman.

The Nigerian leader described the explosions as “tragedy of monumental proportions.”

The incident killed over 130 people and injured over 5,000. More than 300,000 are displaced.

The President extended the sympathy of the government to the large community of Lebanese in Nigeria.

He prayed that God will rest the souls of the dead, comfort the grieving, and grant succour to the wounded and displaced.
