Gunmen kill custom officer, injure another in Jigawa

Unknown gunmen have killed a custom officer and injured one other while on patrol at Kyarama village in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred when the hoodlums allegedly disguised as informants, called the custom officers and informed them that there was a car that smuggled rice along the road.

The gunmen were said to have opened fire on the victims after they reached the location.

Police spokesman, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.

He said the incident occurred on Sunday at about 4: 30 a.m. while the custom officers were on patrol.

Jinjiri explained that the officers were attacked by unknown hoodlums along Kyarama village in Ringim local Government area.

He said one of the officers was shot dead, while the other one was critically injured by bullets shots.

He said the gunmen also carted away two of their serviceable rifles.

He said effort was on to trace and arrest the offenders.
