Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and former Arsenal striker, Nwankwo Kanu, have expressed sadness over the death of Argentine and football legend, Diego Maradona.
Maradona died of heart attack on Wednesday at his Buenos Aires home in Argentina.
The 60-year-old had a surgery on a brain blood clot earlier in November.
Maradona, who played for Barcelona and Napoli, scored 34 goals in 91 appearances for Argentina, and featured in four World Cups.
He was captain when his country won the 1986 World Cup.
Reacting, Ronaldo, in a post via his Twitter handle, wrote, “Today, I say goodbye to a friend and the world says goodbye to an eternal genius.
“One of the best ever. An unparalleled magician. He leaves too soon, but leaves a legacy without limits and a void that will never be filled. Rest in peace, ace. You will never be forgotten.”
Also reacting, Kanu tweeted, “R.I.P Diego Armando Maradona. Your memory will live on forever.”
