Embattled Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, Salihu Abdulkadir, has faulted moves by a group he described as Bororos in the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria to dethrone him.
Recall that a member of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Yakubu Bello, last week called on the Alafin of Oyo state, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi iii, and the Oyo state government to dethrone Sarkin Fulani of Oyo State, Salihu Abdulkadir.
Salihu, was forcefully sent packing from his base at Igangan, Ibarapa Local Government of Oyo state recently by Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba activist following allegations of kidnapping and other crimes levelled against Salihu and his people.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Sunday, Salihu dismissed the plan to remove him saying ” I never forced or imposed myself to be Sarkin Fulani of Oyo state, it was the Alafin of Oyo through the elders of the ancient town who appointed me.
“Bello, a Bororo who is behind the move is desperate to take over my position after my forceful exit from Igangan by Sunday Igboho.
Salihu, disclosed that the Director of State Security, Oyo state on Saturday, summoned him to a meeting at Aleshinloye headquarters, Ibadan over the planned removal where Fulanis in attendance denied and dissociated themselves from the alleged removal of the Sarkin Fulani.
The Fulanis in attendance lamented that the current travail of the Fulanis across the country does not warrant any mischievous plan to cause division among them.
According to the embattled Sarkin Fulani, “Bello’s plan to influence the Alafin of Oyo to get him removed failed, even after he had influenced Sunday Igboho to evict him from Igangan.
Salihu, who has now relocated to Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, accused the Bororos of causing the herdsmen crisis across the country.
“Bororos are without manners, uncultured, and don’t know how to live peacefully among other peace loving citizens,” Sarkin Fulani added.
He alleged that Bororos are behind the violent kidnappings and other crimes in the South West of Nigeria, and my opposition to all these devilish acts caused the hatred the Bororos have for me, hence their plan to remove me.”
Salihu, also identified two key figures, Aliyu Mustapha and Bani Abubakar, alleged to be the masterminds of the plan to remove him, having been induced with money.
He cautioned security agencies and the Oyo state government to be wary of the activities of Bororos, saying they are responsible for the crisis in Oyo state presently.
He said historically, Yoruba and Fulanis have lived together and interacted for several years without any crisis until the recent uprising by the Bororos across Nigeria.
In a related development, another group of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, led by Salihu Ibrahim Dendeb, dismissed the call for the removal of the Sarkin Fulani, saying Yakubu Bello who spearheaded the move ” is not empowered to speak on behalf of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, members.
The group said the allegations against the Sarkin Fulani were false and unsubstantiated, urging the Oyo state government to ignore those behind the call.
It warned that legal action could be taken against Yakubu Bello, if he continues with his unguided statement using the name of Miyetti Allah.
