- Raymond Dokpesi said he has the capacity to drive the PDP through achieving its goals in 2019

The chairman of Daar Communications Limited, Raymond Dokpesi, has said he has the capacity to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dokpesi the PDP must be focused on opening its doors to provide a level playing ground to competent members of the party who are eligible and have the will to contest for positions in the party.

He said it is important for the party to produce a northern candidate who will represent it in the tussle for the presidential seat in the next election.

"We must open our radars and look for the most competent, the most capable and the best general who will lead us into battle with APC. But the party must provide a level playing ground for all the aspirants that are going to come.
"And that is what I am saying I have the capacity, the ability, the will to really provide that level playing ground and transparent ground for the PDP candidacy to have," Dokpesi said.

However, answering questions on whether he was formerly declaring his aspiration to run for the party's national chairmanship position, the media mogul said the PDP is still "consulting".
He said consultation on whether the party's highest leadership position should be zoned to the whole south region or micro-zoned to the southwest alone is ongoing.
Stating that the PDP's convention is the highest authority in the party, Dokpesi said it is commendable that anybody will attempt to micro-zone the major positions - chairmanship and presidency - in the party.

Dokpesi said:"This party can only grow on the platform of truth, justice and equity, there is no need to be manipulative about it.
We must build this country with a clear vision, we have to reconnect this party with the people and this has to be done with equity and justice.
We are currently still consulting,
One of the most vexatious issues we've had in the party has being of zoning. The concept of zoning is to ensure equity an sharing of party offices across the country.
In this very case, the Ekweremadu report came out and said the chairmanship of the party should be zoned to the entire south while the presidency be zoned to the north.
If you're in opposition, you must allow for the best hand," he added.
