A former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has said that Nigeria can defeat the recent outbreak of monkeypox disease.
Atiku in a tweet on Thursday, October 12, said it is important to note that Nigeria was the first country to defeat Ebola during its outbreak.

He said: "Nigeria was the first nation to defeat Ebola. We did it together. Together, we can defeat monkeypox A nation that works together wins together."

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the minister of health, Isaac Adewole, said that the monkeypox virus which is currently being reported in many parts of the country is only a suspicion.

Adewole said the disease can only be confirmed after laboratory tests have been conducted on samples gotten from patients.
He said these samples have been sent to World Health Organization centre in Senegal while the test results are expected with 48 hours.
