Dapchi residents jubilate over return of schoolgirls, wave at Boko Haram insurgents as they leave town (photo, video)

The town of Dapchi in Yobe state was filled with jubilation on Wednesday, March 21 over the release of 101 out of the 110 schoolgirls that were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents on Monday, February 19.
As the insurgents were leaving the town after returning the girls, residents of the town waved them goodbye.
NAIJ.com notes that five of the abducted schoolgirls were said to have died in Boko Haram captivity

Recall that the girls were abducted from their school, Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, on Monday February 19.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the Department of State Service (DSS), on Wednesday, March 21, reported in a tweet that the released Dapchi girls were in their custody.
The DSS said that it will be briefing the presidency and the nation in the course of the day.

Also reported by NAIJ.com was that the Department of State Services (DSS) and other intelligence services were said to have been responsible for the release of the abducted Dapchi
It was reported that DSS contacted the terrorists and negotiated the release of the girls. The terms of the girls’ release were not disclosed.
