United States First Lady Melania Trump has come under severe criticisms for her choice of clothing when she took a trip to Texas to speak to children and officials at a shelter for migrant children.

NDTV reports that the $39 Zara jacket she wore while boarding a plane, which has caused outrage online, had the inscription "I really don't care, do u?"

NAIJ.com gathers that Melania did not wear the jacket while touring the facility but wore it when she deplaned in Maryland and headed back to the White House.

The First Lady on Thursday, June 21, told the people who run the shelter that she wanted to know about how she could help the children to reunite with their families as quickly as possible.

Reacting to Melania's choice of clothing, immigration advocate, David Leopold, said: "It mocks the mothers who have lost their children and it mocks those babies we heard wailing on that tape. It's inexcusable. It's shameful."

Melania's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, explained that there was no hidden message for her choice of clothing.

She said: "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message. After today's important visit to Texas, I hope the media isn't going to choose to focus on her wardrobe."

Grisham later tweeted: "If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children."

President Donald Trump took to Twitter to explain that Melania's choice of clothing was aimed at shading fake media. This contradicted what her spokeswoman had earlier said.

Trumped tweeted: "I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!"
