Abramovic gives new Chelsea coach his first task as manager

- Maurizio Sarri has been ordered by Chelsea's hierarchy to change his lifestyle as manger of the club

- Roman Abramovic told Sarri he would now be wearing suits on matchdays and press conferences

- The 59-year-old has also been told not to smoke on the sidelines and have had driving lessons

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic has told Maurizio Sarri he must be suited and booted on matchdays - and cut out his half-time dressing room fags.

The former Napoli manager was finally named as Antonio Conte’s successor at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Napoli's stylish and attacking football under his charge is the key reason Abramovich made him his prime target to take over from Conte.

But the 59-year-old will not have everything his own way and has been given several directives to follow by the club's hierarchy.

Sarri has always been wearing a tracksuit traditionally on the sidelines but that is about to change.

Abramovic has told the former Empoli man to bring a British attitude to the job by wearing a suit on matchdays.

And it will not only be in the dug-out that he will have his whistle and flute on, it applies to press conferences too.

Sarri kept his promise yesterday as he faced the press for the first time as Chelsea supremo, kitted out in a suit and tie.

But clothing is not the only thing the tracksuit-loving coach has agreed to change, he will also stop smoking cigarettes like he does with Napoli.

Meaning Sarri has been forced to go to a designated area inside the dressing-room to smoke and he will also not be allowed to have a half-time cigarette.

The Italian tactician has also been handed a driving instructor to teach him how to use the left-hand drive to ensure his settling in period in the capital goes as smoothly as possible.

Sarri had his first test of being nicotine free as he set off with his squad for their pre-season tour in Australia.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had earlier reported that Chelsea confirmed that Blues legend Gianfranco Zola has been appointed as assistant manager.

And the two were all smiles as they sat on the tarmac at Gatwick ready for take-off to Perth.
