About 155 out of 230 Nigerian football fans stranded in Russia after the 2018 FIFA World Cup arrived the country on Friday night.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode gave hope to 50 Nigerians who were helpless and sleeping around in the streets of Russia after their agents whom they paid over one million naira (1,000,000) failed to provide them jobs as promised.

Some of them said they used the official Fan IDs to come to Russia with the assurance of finding work or even playing professional football themselves.

Others said they came to watch World Cup matches but got stranded when their return plane tickets were cancelled by bogus travel agencies that booked them. R

A motivational speaker, Nnamdi Odimegwu, via his Instagram page, said he was in the company of the governor when he extended the gesture.

In a related development, no fewer than 80 Nigerians sought for help to return home from Russia after being stranded in the European country.

Mostly men, are seated on a blue mat in front of the country's embassy in the European country.

Most of them claimed they came to Russia as volunteers but according to findings, they came to Moscow in search of greener pasture.

According to a representative of the of the volunteer organization 'Alternativa', Oleg Melnikov, revealed that they came to find work in Russia, but were deceived and now can not return back.
