Foundation empowers winners in essay competition

By Alemma-Ozioruva Aliu

BEIN-CITY—A non-governmental organisation, Francis Ibhawoh Foundation, has announced winners of its 2018 essay competition for undergraduates in Edo State   saying six entrants were successful and therefore entitled to financial reward to encourage their studies.

The winners were drawn from the University of Benin and the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma.

A board member of the foundation, Mr. Victor Asibor, explained that 20 entries, out of the over 200 submissions, were considered for final screening noting that the criteria for selection were based on diction, grammar and content, which must address the topic, “Youth Migration from Africa: Addressing Causes and Finding Solutions.

“Even the ones selected had to be graded because they were actually very good. Six came out successful but it was difficult for us to select them.

“The award will last for one year and, in 2019, we will have another one. Other students interested in the competition should understand the topic and make use of a library to get relevant information.”
