Peace returns to Ogun APC as Amosun’s former campaign director canvasses vote for governorship candidate recognised by party’s NWC
- Governor Amosun’s former campaign DG has called for peace in the state’s chapter of the ruling party
- He urged all the aggrieved members to join hands with the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun
- The party had earlier been throwing into turmoil over the outcome of the gubernatorial primaries
The former director general of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun Campaign Organisation during the 2015 elections, Chief Bode Mustapha, has called on all aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state to join hands with the party’s candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, so as to win the governorship election in 2019.
Mustapha who is the chairman, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, on Sunday, October 14, said this at the residence of Abiodun in Iperu, Ogun East senatorial district during a solidarity visit of the party faithful across the 20 local governments of the state to the governorship candidate, The Punch reports.
The Muhammad Indabawa- led National Working Committee panel had declared Abiodun the governorship candidate of the APC, while the state executive committee of the party had also declared the Yewa Elders Council consensus governorship candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, as the winner of the governorship primary.

The latter alleged that the NWC panel was highly compromised.
Mustapha, however, added that he never thought Abiodun would be the one that would be brave enough to liberate the party.
He said: “Today I must thank God for the lives of all of us who believe in Prince Dapo Abiodun because I must tell you that I never believed that our liberation could come this early.
“If I was told that it is Prince Dapo Abiodun who will bravely lead the movement for our liberation in Ogun state, I wouldn’t have believed.
“The first time he visited me then, I was not in support of any governorship candidate. I was the DG of the incumbent governor and then we had some agreement of which they reneged.
“But we must just thank God today because our most preferred candidate has emerged and as a result, we must continue to pray for the candidate and as well stretch the hands of fellowship to other aggrieved members.
“We must note today that, I am not doing this because I want to contest any political position but, I am doing this so as to set the records straight for our unborn generations.”

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that there were strong indications that Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state had been prevailed upon by some party leaders in the state to shelve his planned defection from the APC to another party.
Amosun had earlier opposed the emergence of an oil magnate Dapo Abiodun as the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
A report by Vanguard, however, stated that the governor had been prevailed upon by the party leaders to shelve the planned defection because of the party’s governorship candidate in the state.
