Former Manchester City defender Nigel de Jong is certainly ready for life after football as he flaunts incredible car showroom on social media.

The Netherlands international joined Qatari topflight side Al Ahli in July this year after spending the second half of last term with German side Mainz 05.

He made eleven appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions.

The 33-year-old was part of Holland's team that won bronze medal at the 2014 edition of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Before his move to Germany in 2016, he had featured for top European clubs like Hamburg, Man City and AC Milan and Galatasaray.

The former Ajax youth star was said to have graduated with an Economics degree an Amsterdam University in 2001.

During his stay in Germany, de Jong co-founded Continental Cars - an incredible showroom full of the world's most expensive cars in 2007.

The garage has got everything from Lamborghini Aventadors, several Bentley Continental GT and GTCs, Wiesmanns, Maseratis, as well as a Ferrari F430.

So it's no wonder the likes of Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski are said to be customers.

I have a degree in economics," he told Joe.

"My mother always said ‘football is only part of your life, you have to develop yourself beyond that’ and I felt it was vital for me to do something for myself that wasn’t related to it.

"Besides being a professional player, I had the dream of owning a company and when I had the money and the expertise, I made it happen."

And selling cars is something that certainly runs in the family.

He continued: “My grandfather was one of the CEOs of Ford in Holland and I saw closely how he developed himself as a businessman.

"He was always on time, making sure payments were never late, paying attention to service and giving customers extra, always making sure the company and his family was stable.

I looked up to him, and off the pitch, I wanted to be like him. I also think his professionalism is something I carried with me as a footballer too.

God gave me the talent and the strength to become a football player, which gave me the financial resources and empowerment to improve in other areas.

"I think it’s so important for football players to be smart with what they do with their salaries, because it can become an investment or be gone before you know it.

It is very tempting in our industry to live for now - to buy the expensive cars and live a flashy lifestyle - but you have to plan so you’re able to do that in future too.

This is an education players should get from a very early age to help them deal with the money they’ll make."

In an interview last year with Voetbal International, de Jong spoke about his impressive client list that includes footballers and some Gulf state oil sheikhs.

"Of course many footballers know where to find us," he said.

"But also business people, collectors, and we just have to work hard for it, it's not that we've had success for ten years.

"We were faced with the financial crisis when we came out."

NAIJ.com previously reported that Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is one of the best forwards in the Premier League this season considering his performances for the Etihad club.

But off the pitch, the 23-year-old Englishman is a car connoisseur as he drives flashy motors worth over £1 million.

Since Raheem Sterling started his football career at Liverpool in 2010, he has been seen driving a number of expensive cars over the years.
