- Oby Ezekwesili, a presidential candidate for the coming polls on the platform of the ACPM, has said that Amina Zakari should not carry out any duty during the election
- Ezekwesili's reason was that although Zakari may not be related to President Muhammadu Buhari by blood, they are both linked by marriage
- She stressed that for the sake of integrity on the part of the president, Zakari should be removed from office in INEC
Oby Ezekwesili, the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPM), has called for the removal of Amina Zakari as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre committee.

According to Ezekwesili, for the sake of integrity, Zakari should not be allowed to take on any duty during and after the general polls, Channels TV reports.
Ezekwesili said: “She shouldn’t be at all involved in any task that involves the conduct of the 2019 elections. She is an interested party.
“If we want the highest level of electoral integrity, Amina Zakari who is a professional in her own right, should continue to be a Commissioner but don’t put her in the conduct of 2019 elections.”
The ACPM's presidential candidate referred to the presidency's and INEC's denial of the possibility of a blood tie between President Buhari and Zakari as lies, adding that a marriage link is involved.
Ezekwesili stated: “It is a shame that they are lying. They know that the President’s sister was married to Amina Zakari’s father. So there is definitely a strong relationship. I am not part of the party that talked about blood relations.

“I know there is no blood relationship, but I know there is such proximate relationship. And that relationship used to be thrown around until it became a problem.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Festus Keyamo, speaking on the appointment of Zakari, said that PDP has had no right to impose on the nation what its own sense of fairness was.
Keyamo, the spokesman for the Buhari presidential campaign council, who made this known said: ''We are stakeholders too, PDP has no right to impose on the nation what its own sense of fairness is.”
He also faulted the insinuations that the reactions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were attempts to defend the electoral umpire.
