South Africa beat Egypt in tough AFCON 2019 clash, tackle Nigeria in quarterfinal cracker





Egypt’s Pharaohs bowed out of the AFCON 2019 after losing 0-1 to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Saturday, July 6, at the Cairo International Stadium.

The encounter saw the host enjoy more possession of the balls, but we not able to open scores at the end of first half.

In the second half, the Pharaohs continued from where they stopped before the break, but Bafana Bafana held on to keep the scores barren.

However, with five minutes to the end of regulation time, South Africa netted the winner through Thembinkosi Lorch courtesy of a fast counter-attack.

Despite other late chances, Bafana Bafana held on to send the host out of the tournament.

South Africa will now square up against Nigeria in the quarterfinal clash on Wednesday, July 10, at Cairo International Stadium.
