Another AFCON coach sacked after poor outing in Egypt

- Paul Put has been fired by the Guinean FA after crashing out AFCON tourney in Egypt

- The Belgian tactician led the Sily Nationale to the round of 16 at the championship

- They were however knocked out by Algeria after losing 3-0 at the knockout stage

Guinea Football Association have sacked Paul Put after crashing out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations championship staging in Egypt.

The Sily Nationale crashed out of the tournament at the round of 16 following their 3-0 defeat to Algeria earlier this month.

Having kicked off their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Madagascar, they lost their second group game to Nigeria.

They advanced to the knockout stage after securing a 2-0 victory over Burundi in the final group game but eventually crashed out at the round of 16.

Guinea Football Federation has now announced that they have sacked the Belgian tactician due to poor results in the tournament in Egypt.

"The FEGUIFOOT has ended its collaboration with Paul Put due unsatisfactory sports results and poor participation in AFCON 2019," Guinea FA president Antonio stated.

Put was named Harambee Stars coach in November 2017 and helped Kenya win the 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that was staged in Kenya.

Three months after his appointment, he stunned Football Kenya Federation when he tendered his resignation letter. He would later be officially unveiled as Guinea coach.

He now joins a growing list of coaches who have been shown the door after an unimpressive campaign in the continental tournament.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Gernot Rohr has called on the Super Eagles to put the semi final defeat against Algeria behind them and finish the competition on a high.

The three-time African champions were subjected to a painful 2-1 defeat to the Desert Foxes and the Nigerian side will be looking to redeem their image against Tunisia in the third place playoffs.

And Rohr has urged his team to stay focused on their match against the Carthage Eagles and added that team has a promising future despite the slip up.
