- Maurizio Sarri has cleared dust on alleged rift with Ronaldo after Portuguese star was subbed in AC Milan encounter
- Ronaldo was taken off the pitch for Paulo Dybala in the 55 minutes and the decision made a huge difference as Old Lady recorded a vital win
- The Italian manager has now played down the off pitch drama saying his decision was down to Ronaldo's fitness
Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri, has issued an explainer on why Cristiano Ronaldo was taken off the pitch in the 55 minutes during a home Serie A game against league rivals AC Milan.
Ronaldo was subbed for Paulo Dybala barely nine minutes into the second half of the game with the decision making a huge difference as the Argentine scored the only goal of the match.
Ronaldo however gave Sarri "a dirty look" and walked down the tunnel in violent anger before vanishing off into the dressing room.
Later, the 34-year-old was reported to have left the Juve Stadium before the match ended sparking discussion on the cyber space.
But the former Chelsea manager in a reaction played down alleged rift and added that his decision was down to Ronaldo's concern-giving fitness.
"We must thank Ronaldo, because he made a sacrifice to be there at all tonight in a difficult situation,'' the Italian manager.
"He did everything possible to play, but I saw he was not well and thought it best to take him off. It’s only natural a player is going to be irritated to leave the pitch," Sarri submitted.
