Breaking: Situation Room calls for total cancellation of Kogi elections





- The Situation room has called for the total cancellation of Kogi election

- According to the coalition of prominent civic groups, the Kogi election represents a major dent to Nigeria’s democracy

- Going further, the group added that if the election is allowed to stand, 2023 and Ondo state election next year will be a bloodbath

Following alleged vote buying and high level of violence that trail the election held in Kogi state, the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room has called for the total cancellation of the exercise.

According to The Situation Room, in a statement sighte by Ledgit.ng, the Kogi election represents a major dent to Nigeria’s democracy.

The Situation Room is a coalition of prominent civic groups and one of the accredited observers for the election.

Clement Nwankwo, the convener of the situation room, announced the group’s stance in a press conference in Abuja on Sunday, November 17.

He argued that if the election is allowed to stand, 2023 and Ondo state election next year will be a bloodbath.

Meanwhile, recall that Legit.ng had reported that instances of rigging in the gubernatorial election in Kogi state have been caught on camera.

In this case, a suspected supporter of of the PDP governorship candidates in Kogi state was caught illegally thumb printing ballots.

A news outlet filmed the rigging incident at polling Unit 001 in ward 4, Odu- Ogbeyaga area of Dekina local government area.

This is the polling centre where the PDP candidate Musa Wada voted. The video did not show clearly which party the ballots favoured.
