EFCC arraigns Mama Boko Haram over N66m fraud

- The court has however granted her N30 million bail

Following allegation of N66 million fraud, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has on Wednesday, December 4, arraigned Aisha Wakil known as Mama Boko Haram.

she was arraigned alongside one Tahiru Daura before Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno state high court, Maiduguri, on counts charge which include cheating, dishonesty and intent to defraud.

Ali Tijjani, managing director of AMTMAT Global Ventures in a petition alleged that Complete Care and Aids Foundation, an NGO run by the defendants refused to make payment for a delivered order.

In his petition, he alleged that Complete Care and Aids Foundation awarded his company a contract to supply processed maize grain worth N15 million and after the order was delivered and received, the defendant refused to make payment.

He also alleged that he helped the defendants fund their trip to Morocco to the tune of N51 million.

According to him, they refused to make payment for the trip also.

Meanwhile, the court has granted the accused bail in the sum of N30m with two sureties in like sum.

Going further, the judge warned them sternly that failure to appear in court during trial would lead to revocation of the bail.

Recall that Legit.ng had reported that Wakil appealed to the abductors that might be responsible for the abduction of Dapchi schoolgirls to release the young female captives.

Wakil, who is said to be highly respected by some leaders of Boko Haram said she was ready to sacrifice her life to rescue the girls from abductors.

She said: ''This thing that is happening, is really breaking my heart. These children don’t even know what they are doing. Some of them were not even born at the time this thing started.

'' I will go after them, even if it will take my life to save these girls. They call me Mummy, but they don’t listen to me. I keep on talking to them, begging them to lay down their arms and embrace peace but they will say ‘Insha-Allah mummy we are going to stop.’ Sometimes they will say they are scared they are going to be killed but I will tell them nobody is going to kill you.
